“Textura” – Sensing Your Own Truth

14/09/2026

Truth always lies within, never on the outside, doesn't it? Anything coming from the outside should merely serve as an impulse for our own deep sensing. On the path of self-discovery, many people might relate to this: learning to trust one's own inner authority, taking the helm of one's own route, and fully committing to this longer journey toward oneself. Oh, and of course, stopping the constant search for distractions just to avoid stepping into that rowboat in the first place, haha.

But how do you actually sense this inner truth? For me, it often doesn't happen through words at all. There is frequently this profound bodily sensing, but the language to capture it is simply missing. You feel something very clearly, yet you just can't find the right terms to do that feeling justice. In my view, words can sometimes even obscure our perspective or restrict a feeling too much.

So what do you do when language falls short of capturing your experience? You switch the medium. For me, verbal language sits on the very same shelf as painting. When words are missing, shape, colour, and texture become my way of giving space to this yet-unnamed sensing and finding an expression for it. First visually, and only then in words. That is also why these texts always come into being only after a piece is finished. I see other arts, like music or dance, on that exact same shelf, and I think it is immensely valuable that we as humans have such a rich choice of creative outlets when the mind alone hits a wall.

That is precisely how the words for this small and refined series, "Textura", came to be. Originally, it wasn't even intended as a standalone project, but rather as a free space for experimentation alongside my main series, ReOrientation. Yet, within this open-ended process, I realized that these pieces were telling a very distinct story of their own.

Our inner landscape isn't always a smooth, flawless surface. Even if we might like to present it that way to the outside world. It has rough patches, deeply embedded layers, grooves, and imperfections. To truly know yourself, you first have to be willing to feel all these inner textures. And that willingness, in turn, needs to be free of fear; otherwise, it quickly turns into an obligation. This state of being can feel like a rough sea, yet at the same time, it brings so much clarity and structure. After all, a sea can only be rough because its gentle counterpart exists too: the stillness, the calm, and the trust.

The raw, almost rock-like textures and clear structural lines on the canvas embody this very act of holding space for inner opposites. The cool blue imparts depth and quiet, while the vibrant orange and yellow bring warmth into the composition. The layers don't displace one another; they exist side by side. They make visible that our inner landscape doesn't need to be polished smooth to be complete and harmonious.

For me, "Textura" is the painted expression of this self-discovery. It is an invitation to fully trust your own sensing again, to stay curious, and to embrace your own multifaceted textures exactly as they are.
